Geery Staal
Geery Staal studied at the Amsterdam School of Arts, and since 1990 has been working as an artist and teacher in drawing and painting in Amsterdam.
Geery’s work is both abstract and figurative, and she finds inspiration in landscape and architecture (Frisian Wadden, Oriental towns, Romanesque churches), models, still-life and music. Often a painting is based on simple shapes such as a square or a fish, giving her freedom to play with matter, structure, composition and light, but especially with the elements of rhythm and color.
