Maurice Cockrill

Maurice Cockrill is a renowned modern British painter who studied at the Wrexham School of Art and the University of Reading. Since then he has had a distinguished teaching career and was appointed keeper of the Royal Academy Schools (2005-11).

Cockrill’s paintings are described as both lyrical and challenging, and appear in public and private collections around the world. Retrospectives of his work have been held at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool (1995) and the Royal West of England Academy (1998).
